Written in collaboration with Thomas Eisl, Der Leiermann is a sound installation to be “performed”. A performer is singing Schubert’s Der Leiermann while bouncing on a trampoline. A violin bow is connected to a trampoline. The trampoline’s movement causes the bow to play an open drone on the violin. As they sing, framgents of Der Leiermann are played on a toy piano. There is a tension between the physical act of singing or playing and the motion required to maintain the violin drone.
